4th day that I’ve been here already, in Pretoria :)
I’ve just been enjoying my time here with the Snyders, who’ve been exceptionally accommodating and hospitable. Here’s a short summary of the past few days:
1. Lots of cereal, oats, and maize porridge for breakfast! They have this very uniquely South African cereal called “ProNutro” or something, it’s chocolate in flavour and you mix it with milk and heat it in the microwave – a taste of heaven.
2. 2 movies – Prince of Persia, and Robinhood. Ticket prices here are so reasonable! It’ll probably make you want to get a 2.5k airplane ticket to fly here and watch the movies. I caught Robinhood at $4 SGD, and upon coming home found out that there was a cinema charging less than $4 for a ticket and a large popcorn combo (coke included). Siao liao siao liao, come you all come and find me here we go watch movie. Hahahaha.
3. Wii Archery! There’s a Wii set over here, and we played it last night before dinner. Played in teams and the girls won 2 out of 3 times, -curtseys- We’re supposed to play this afternoon, but everybody’s so tired after the fantastic lunch that almost the whole house is having a nap, hahaha.
4. Braai (I’m not too sure how it’s spelt) is something like a South African Barbecue, and it is awesome! There’s a chef in the house (the younger daughter’s boyfriend) and he baked bread with some herbs/peppers included, some hashbrown/potato dish wish cream sauce… Another taste of heaven. I almost died because the meal was so so good! Hahaha. (This was the nap-inducing meal, fyi)
That’s about it! The rest of the time is spent on my laptop replying emails or working on my piano thesis (which I am officially done with! =D).
Tomorrow onwards, the real adventure begins! I’ll be going for the Ultimate Goal Challenge up till the 12th of July, then on the 13th I’m heading to Zambia to work in a school with disabled children. I can’t wait for it to all begin, but once it does, it’s not going to stop!
I won’t be able to blog/email/facebook or anything internet-related for the next 5 weeks while I’m at the UGC, so if it’s urgent you can always reach me via sms/calls.
I’m all excited and ready to go! Continue to keep me in prayer, that I’ll rely on Him each and every day, and remember to commit each day to Him and live it for Him rather than for myself. This trip, and my life too, is all for His glory to begin with, so pray that I will never forget that.
Thanks everybody for your love and support and random surprise smses, they really do make my day. :) Take care!
Love,
Marianne
